Second Annual KCXW Charity Event to Support Midwest Animal ResQ

Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling's next event is a fundraiser to benefit Midwest Animal ResQ (MARQ), a pet adoption and rescue charity.  And we're bringing in our biggest guest star to date:  wrestling legend Ricky Morton will be teaming up with KCXW's "Bullysmasher" Shannon Reed in the main event match!

The first Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling professional wrestling show of 2018 is at State Street Project in downtown Kansas City, Kansas on January 13th.  It will be a very special event called “Wrestling for Pets”, with the proceeds (after covering expenses) donated to Midwest Animal ResQ, a Raytown, Missouri charity which provides rescue, pairing and adoption services for any at-risk animals.

“After the huge success of our “Wrestling for Vets” event in February 2017, we knew we wanted to have another charity show to kick off 2018.  Most of our wrestlers and staff are pet owners, so putting on a benefit for animals in need seemed like a no-brainer.  And we couldn’t be happier that wrestling legend Ricky Morton from the Rock ‘n Roll Express agreed to be a part of this event,” said KCXW Marketing Director Jud Kite.

“Wrestling for Pets” is the second-ever KCXW: Second Saturdays event, a series that kicked off to acclaim on December 9th, 2017.  The Second Saturday events take place at the new State Street Project, in a historic downtown Kansas City, Kansas building that has served as a school and community center in the past.

Headlining the event in a tag team match is Ricky Morton.  Morton is a 40-year professional wrestling veteran and recent inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of tag team legends the Rock ‘n Roll Express.  Morton and the Rock ‘n Roll Express set a new standard for tag team wrestling, winning multiple championships along the way and inspiring two generations of future wrestlers to step into the ring, from Shawn Michaels to Randy Orton and more.

Other featured performers at “Wrestling for Pets” will include Kansas City Champion The Markman, as well as local wrestling stars Captain Shabam, “Bullysmasher” Shannon Reed, Cornelius Wyverstone, Hollis Giroux, The Sarge, and more.

About the Midwest Animal ResQ (MARQ)
The Midwest Animal ResQ objective is simple; Completing Families One Tail at a Time. To save as many companion animals as possible from dying needlessly – whether they are abandoned, or at risk of being euthanized in City and Rural Shelters. MARQ does not specialize in a specific breed, but rather any animal that is facing eminent danger and/or death.  MARQ focuses on finding the right fit for each family, and strive to make the adoption process as personal and positive as possible.  Their goal is to find the perfect pet to complete your family.
